Despite significant turnover in the Melbourne Rebels’ playing squad heading into the 2012 season the signings of some Wallabies kept interest levels high. Damien Hill took over as Head Coach but the Rebels had to wait until Round 5 of the 2012 season to record their first win of the year.

A highlight was the Rebels securing their first ever victory over the Blues from Auckland at AAMI Park in Round 7, before arguably the proudest result in the Club’s short history with a win against the Crusaders in Round 12. The Rebels took great strides as they secured four victories for the season and finished in 13th position on the ladder.
