Reconciliation Action Plan
The Melbourne Rebels fully support and are committed to the Australian Rugby Union’s (ARU) Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
Announced by ARU CEO Bill Pulver in 2013, as part of National Reconciliation Week, the RAP was developed in close consultation with The Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team (LMRDT) and Reconciliation Australia.
The Australian Rugby Union along with Reconciliation Australia recognised many essential areas in their RAP, the program is geared towards changing attitudes, building relationships and creating environments where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people feel welcome, supported and respected.
Rugby has a unique role to play in improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples – particularly in the areas of education, employment and training, which is fully supported by the Access Rugby Program.
