A comprehensive performance from the Melbourne Rebels Super Rugby Women’s team, saw them beat the Fijian Drua in Round 5 of the Buildcorp Super Rugby Women’s competition.

Melbourne played with finesse and aggression on both sides of the breakdown, disrupting possession and forcing turnovers all over the field. Coupled with slick skills and finishing to match, the Rebels controlled the game from start to finish.

Scoring a double, Captain Ashley Marsters wasn't the only player to feature, with the Rebels fly half Cassie Siataga using her long-range boot to keep the Fijian attack out of their 22m, controlling field position from the first minute.

The Rebels’ opening try came from winger Channelle Kohika-Skipper, after an incredible run and late flick pass from Mel Kawa saw her get the ball down in the corner.

The scoring continued with the Drua responding in the 36th minute, bringing the game to 14 - 10 at half time in favour of the visitors.

The second half was a different story, with Ashley Marsters carving a hole through the Fijian defence for her first try, setting the tone for her teammates as shortly after Jiowana Sauto did much the same.

A strong carry saw the prop barge through the line, and slam the ball down to extend the Rebel’s lead. From the kicking tee, Cassie Siataga got the extras to make the scoreline a 13-point game.

Siataga didn't miss a beat all game, converting all four tries and collecting two penalties.

Finishing the game as she started it with boundless energy and strength, Ashley Marsters scored once again in the 78th minute, sealing the win for the home side.

An emotional end to the season with two close games in Rounds 3 and 4, the Rebels were too strong for the visiting Drua and finished their campaign with a strong win at home in front of family and friends.
